What furniture would you put in a sun room that is off the kitchen?

I am getting a house built. I have the vigorous task of picking out every detail in the house from the vinyl siding to the flooring. Off of my kitchen is the sun room. I have no idea what to put in their. What do you suggest?

Answer:
You could go with wicker, if you want a sun room that looks like every other sun room in America.

Couple other options: where in the world would you love to travel? A southwest theme, a Parisian cafe theme, a Moroccan lounge?

If you go completely conservative everywhere else in the house, give yourself the luxury of have your dream sitting room/breakfast nook/bar.

I would go with wood floors, a continuation of your kitchen flooring, with dark wood trim and bold color on the wall. This is a sun room, it will be filled with natural light in the day, you can have a bold color on the wall, not a sissy pastel.

For evening lighting, I would go with outdoor lanterns as sconces, reminiscent of gas lamps in the old town districts, and ivy hanging baskets, if you need to have live greenery, and it won't clutter your floor space. For a cost effective furniture option, go with outdoor furniture. Solid metal with cushions that you can recover when you want to switch something up. A chaise lounge, love seat, and glass top cafe table with chairs, or full dining room table with chairs. Use glass top end tables, and a smaller coffee table. You want the room to be comfortable enough that you will use it for something other than entertaining. And you want your guests to be comfortable too, and no one likes to listen to wicker groaning as they sit down or get up, because all wicker eventually groans (and it collects dust!) I prefer the pacific northwest cafe theme, rich in color, still modern, comfortable and inviting. Don't be afraid of color or something other than White Wicker and Sunshine Yellow.
