How to arrange furniture in a room without walls?

I'm moving into an attic. Two of the walls are essentially the "roof" and the two other walls are "triangular" and have such large windows that placing furniture on them isn't possible without covering them. It is a large space and the ceiling is probably 12' at the "peak". Any ideas for working with sloped walls?

Answer:
Will this be a bedroom for you? Or is a full living space, like an apartment? I think you'll have to put your furniture right out in the middle, away from the sloped walls and peaks.

A large area rug would anchor and define the sleeping or living area. Place your furniture - or at least the larger pieces - on the rug in an attractive arrangment. Use smaller pieces - low bookcases, chests of drawers, etc along the sloped walls. You could also put plants - real or silks along the straight, lower portions of the wall. You could mix in some stacked boxes or chests, art on an easel, etc..

If there are lots of angles and slopes, you'll need to be careful that the space does not take on a cluttered, haphazard appearance.

It may be a challenge to work with such a space, but you can make it look charming and cozy, and it will be a nice little retreat for you...your very own sanctuary that's private and personal! Good luck.
