What type of furniture is good for a small bedroom?
I am moving to a new apartment in January. How can I make the most of the small space. What color is good for a small space?
Answer:
Instead of using night tables, use pedestals--just big enough for a lamp and clock/telephone. if possible find corner units--they save a lot of space--cornerdesk, corner armoire,corner shelves, etc. get some of those under-bed drawer units--they are like giant tupperware containers that have wheels on them enabling you to roll in and out like a drawer. dont use a dresser--use tall narrow chests instead. if you need a mirror hang one on the wall and a full-length one on the back of the door. Put robe-hooks on the inside of your closet door. if you have a desk--make sure youve got a chair that can be pushed all the way under it when not in use. a long shelf can be put up on the wall and you can place wicker baskets on it to serve as additional drawers for clothing storage. if there doesnt seem to be room for your closet door to swing open, you might consider removing it and getting an accordian door or a bead door instead. a color tip: if your furniture is a similar color as your walls it will give the illusion of a larger space. a dark color will not make the room smaller, but may give you a feeling of being "boxed-in" after a while.
